Hello again, guys! So now that Mel has uploaded the photos from Soundwave, I decided to finish telling my story now along with some pictures! Going back a little bit, I just have to show you the picture Mel took during Trivium's performance (including the mosh pit).
And as you can see there was this girl in the mosh pit, moshing along! Salute to you, girl! Anyways, I can still see how hot Matt Heafy is (Mel and I fell in love with him that instant we saw him with short hair, we've always had this very similar taste in men and music). Ever since then, Mel and I couldn't stop talking about Matt Heafy. His short hair is doing him so much justice, because I've never ever thought he was good looking when he had long hair (and I love guys with long hair. Love them).
That awesome feeling, I can actually still feel the tingle in the back of my neck just by seeing this picture. I've never been a huge fan of Trivium, but their performance blew my mind. So after watching Trivium, we went to the main stage to see Marilyn Manson. I love his songs, but to be honest, his performance was okay, slightly disappointing though. It's not just because Mel and I couldn't get into the front row (we couldn't even get into the arena in front of the stage because they closed it already), but we thought that Marilyn Manson was too high to actually perform. He even said it himself, "I'm f*cking high right now, don't let the cops know," and in some of his songs he couldn't even finish his screams. So no pictures of Marilyn Manson, the pictures Mel took were blurry, sorry!
Just a few minutes after Marilyn Manson was the band I was waiting for: SLIPKNOT. So Mel and I moved to the other stage so we could see them clearly (this time we got a slightly better view than when we watched Marilyn Manson!) and she could take a good picture of the stage.
The stage was so epic, with flames and all that. And of course, their performance was A-MA-ZING. Hands down, best performance of the festival. This was the performance that made me lose my voice. I couldn't stop screaming and shouting and jumping and head banging and enjoying myself like a psycho. And to even make you guys more jealous for not being there, here's an awesome, fully HD video (not by us, sadly) of Slipknot performing Duality (MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE SONG EVER):
As you can hear, the rage of the crowd was absolutely amazing. Hundreds of thousands of people, jumping in the same rhythm at the same time...it was amazing. Just moments before, they were talking about Paul Gray (his spirit was there that night :D) and Sid Wilson jumped from the sound system tower!
And someone recorded a video of him jumping!!!
Oh and to finally see the Slipknot's epic spinning drum kit live, it was breathtaking! Here's the video (also, not by me):
Man, I honestly don't think I can stop talking about Slipknot right now. I love these people who recorded such awesome videos and uploaded them on Youtube so I can relive the experience again and again!!! The best part of their performance was their "baptism" ritual, which was part of their song "Spit It Out". They told us to sit on the ground (we just squatted on the ground since it was wet because of the rain) and told us when they say "jump the f*ck up" then we must JUMP THE F*CK UP (pretty obvious lol). So the whole crowd sat on the ground, and the music started playing as Corey Taylor sang the first part of the song until "JUMP THE F*CK UP" and then WE ALL JUMPED THE F*CK UP. An awesome dude actually sat on the benches and recorded it to get a whole view of the moment and here it is:
It was, hands down, one of the absolute best moments in my life. I'm not even kidding right now, I still can't believe I WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CROWD. Anyways, I think I should just continue with the rest of the bands: System of A Down and Lamb of God. I've always loved System of A Down, and they were absolutely epic as well, but since their performance was around the same hour as Lamb of God, Mel and I couldn't totally focus because we kept looking at the time so we could get to Lamb of God's performance as well. Mel is a HUGE, HUGE fan of Lamb of God and the funny thing was when we actually went to see their performance, I was expecting her to scream or shout or anything. When I was head banging madly, she only stared at them in awe, with no expression on her face. Not a shout or anything. I was actually a bit concerned, afraid that she could be sick or something. It turned out that she just could not believe it, hahaha!
Anyways, we were so full of sweat and mud, and we were so sure that we also smelled really bad. It was worth it. Our first TRUE heavy metal experience, here, in Brisbane, in one of the biggest events in the country. This would be an experience I will never forget, ever. So if you were wondering how we looked like after the show (it's a shame we didn't take any "before" photo for comparison!), here we are:
My make up was completely washed off thanks to the rain!! And here's how our feet looked like:
We were tired, smelly, sweaty, and filthy, but we had so much fun, we didn't even care. Anyways, I should end this post here :) I'll see you guys later!!
