Well well well, it's me again, in the middle of the night, suddenly had this urge to post something. I had a couple of things I want to talk about at the moment, the thing is that they're all unrelated to each other. Nonetheless, I still just want to spit it out (insert Slipknot reference here!). First of all I just want to share my dreams last night, which wasn't that epic or absurd. It was rather depressing, actually. The only things I could remember was that I wasn't in Brisbane anymore, it seemed like I was in Melbourne (not that I can remember how Melbourne was anyway) with Carol and tried to meet up with my high school friends. When I met them, of course I would scream in happiness and jumped to them all. They all just said "Hi" awkwardly and smiled even more awkwardly. This still breaks my heart when I remember it now. Thanks to that awkwardness, I didn't even bother talking and just left like that. All of a sudden, I met Marcel (who happens to be my tango instructor at UQ, and he's totally hot) who saw my depression and asked me to dance with him. When I woke up, I realised that maybe I should join tango again this semester. I was thinking about quitting because I joined the belly dancing class as well. We'll see.
On the other note, another random fact about me (yay for random facts!): I love gore and thriller movies, but I can't stand horror movies. I used to like them, but as I'm getting older I get more scared. Lame, I know. However, there's an exception to these very specific types of horror movies: exorcism movies. I have no idea why I love exorcism movies, it probably started when I watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which I think is still the best exorcism movie ever. So yesterday, I went to see The Devil Inside with Carol, Louie, and Inez. What I didn't know was that this movie was made to be like a documentary, which would only mean one thing: NAUSEA. Yes, Inez and I almost threw up in the middle of the movie because of the shakiness and the blurriness of the shots. God, it was awful, we both hate those kinds of movie. We LIKE stable cameras with proper settings. Anyways, besides the awful shots, the story was pretty good. Until the last scene. Then I realised I just spent $5.80 for nothing.
Moving on from the movie (I told you this post will be about 3 or 4 unrelated things), Louie and I were just starting to be crazy about SNSD / Girl's Generation. Yes, I love gothic rock, symphonic metal, heavy metal, but I just like these girls. I know, all those heavy metal people would be embarrassed. Even I was too embarrassed to admit it, but now I don't really give a crap anyway. Anyways, Inez has always been a Korean lover (she even speaks Korean...), but Carol is pretty new to this. So the history of how I got into SNSD was because karma hit me right in the face. Around 2 years ago, back in Jakarta, when Carol and I met each other on campus, she showed me one SNSD song. I've heard of them, I LOATHED THEM. The first song I heard from them was "Gee" and being a heavy metal like I were, I just shouted "WTF?!" and stopped the song halfway through. I kept thinking "no way I'll listen to this sh*t" and so when Carol showed me their song that she liked (titled "Genie"), I just ran away and told her to go away because I would never like them.
Guess the song that suddenly drove me crazy.
GENIE.
(Karma b*tch-slap level OVER 9K!!!!)
I spent my summer watching their talk shows and videos on YouTube, I was turning mad. I even learned their dance routines - and I'm actually really good at it now it became my daily exercise routine - which I will record soon and upload it to YouTube if I'm not too embarrassed. To make it worse, I even memorised their names and faces in less than 3 days, which I still think, was amazing. So my absolute favourite one is Choi Sooyoung.
She's the tallest in the group and she's also the funniest (to me) in talk shows, which is why I love her. One day, just a few weeks before Carol came back from Jakarta, I had a video chat with her and I made this confession about my new craze about SNSD and she laughed her ass off. When I asked her which one was her favourite of all of them - it was SOOYOUNG. (ANOTHER karma b*tch-slap level OVER 9K)
Then I figured, if karma slapped me that hard, I should fight it back. Which is why I bombarded Carol with SNSD talk shows and everything else since she got back here. Almost everyday I would show her various videos on YouTube and we would watch together and laugh together. Karma hits her back because now she could almost differentiate all the members' names and faces (except Seohyun, because she said her name was hard to pronounce).
So, mission success!!! We're now officially SONEs (SNSD's fan group), and even though Carol's a bit embarrassed to admit it (like I used to), I have to admit I'm a part of SONE now. Oh well. The moral of the story: do not laugh when you see a friend of yours is in love with SNSD. Karma is no joke and I'm a living proof of it. Heck, it took me around 3 years to actually like them. You might not like them now...we shall see in a few years and hundreds of replays.
Anyways, I should go off now, I have to watch this one episode of SNSD and then I'll be off to sleep! Ciao!

Hello again, guys! So now that Mel has uploaded the photos from Soundwave, I decided to finish telling my story now along with some pictures! Going back a little bit, I just have to show you the picture Mel took during Trivium's performance (including the mosh pit).
And as you can see there was this girl in the mosh pit, moshing along! Salute to you, girl! Anyways, I can still see how hot Matt Heafy is (Mel and I fell in love with him that instant we saw him with short hair, we've always had this very similar taste in men and music). Ever since then, Mel and I couldn't stop talking about Matt Heafy. His short hair is doing him so much justice, because I've never ever thought he was good looking when he had long hair (and I love guys with long hair. Love them).
That awesome feeling, I can actually still feel the tingle in the back of my neck just by seeing this picture. I've never been a huge fan of Trivium, but their performance blew my mind. So after watching Trivium, we went to the main stage to see Marilyn Manson. I love his songs, but to be honest, his performance was okay, slightly disappointing though. It's not just because Mel and I couldn't get into the front row (we couldn't even get into the arena in front of the stage because they closed it already), but we thought that Marilyn Manson was too high to actually perform. He even said it himself, "I'm f*cking high right now, don't let the cops know," and in some of his songs he couldn't even finish his screams. So no pictures of Marilyn Manson, the pictures Mel took were blurry, sorry!
Just a few minutes after Marilyn Manson was the band I was waiting for: SLIPKNOT. So Mel and I moved to the other stage so we could see them clearly (this time we got a slightly better view than when we watched Marilyn Manson!) and she could take a good picture of the stage.
The stage was so epic, with flames and all that. And of course, their performance was A-MA-ZING. Hands down, best performance of the festival. This was the performance that made me lose my voice. I couldn't stop screaming and shouting and jumping and head banging and enjoying myself like a psycho. And to even make you guys more jealous for not being there, here's an awesome, fully HD video (not by us, sadly) of Slipknot performing Duality (MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE SONG EVER):
As you can hear, the rage of the crowd was absolutely amazing. Hundreds of thousands of people, jumping in the same rhythm at the same time...it was amazing. Just moments before, they were talking about Paul Gray (his spirit was there that night :D) and Sid Wilson jumped from the sound system tower!
And someone recorded a video of him jumping!!!
Oh and to finally see the Slipknot's epic spinning drum kit live, it was breathtaking! Here's the video (also, not by me):
Man, I honestly don't think I can stop talking about Slipknot right now. I love these people who recorded such awesome videos and uploaded them on Youtube so I can relive the experience again and again!!! The best part of their performance was their "baptism" ritual, which was part of their song "Spit It Out". They told us to sit on the ground (we just squatted on the ground since it was wet because of the rain) and told us when they say "jump the f*ck up" then we must JUMP THE F*CK UP (pretty obvious lol). So the whole crowd sat on the ground, and the music started playing as Corey Taylor sang the first part of the song until "JUMP THE F*CK UP" and then WE ALL JUMPED THE F*CK UP. An awesome dude actually sat on the benches and recorded it to get a whole view of the moment and here it is:
It was, hands down, one of the absolute best moments in my life. I'm not even kidding right now, I still can't believe I WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CROWD. Anyways, I think I should just continue with the rest of the bands: System of A Down and Lamb of God. I've always loved System of A Down, and they were absolutely epic as well, but since their performance was around the same hour as Lamb of God, Mel and I couldn't totally focus because we kept looking at the time so we could get to Lamb of God's performance as well. Mel is a HUGE, HUGE fan of Lamb of God and the funny thing was when we actually went to see their performance, I was expecting her to scream or shout or anything. When I was head banging madly, she only stared at them in awe, with no expression on her face. Not a shout or anything. I was actually a bit concerned, afraid that she could be sick or something. It turned out that she just could not believe it, hahaha!
Anyways, we were so full of sweat and mud, and we were so sure that we also smelled really bad. It was worth it. Our first TRUE heavy metal experience, here, in Brisbane, in one of the biggest events in the country. This would be an experience I will never forget, ever. So if you were wondering how we looked like after the show (it's a shame we didn't take any "before" photo for comparison!), here we are:
My make up was completely washed off thanks to the rain!! And here's how our feet looked like:
We were tired, smelly, sweaty, and filthy, but we had so much fun, we didn't even care. Anyways, I should end this post here :) I'll see you guys later!!

So to those of you who really know me, I've always been a metal/gothic/rock person. I listen to almost any genre of music actually, but my most favourite singers or bands are always either metal, gothic, or rock. Legend has it that my epic taste of music came directly from my own mom, who I believe would leave my dad for Bon Jovi (just saying) as she has always been a huge, HUGE fan of the band. She also listens to Guns 'n Roses, that sort of stuff. Ever since I was a kid, I would love to play with my brother's cassettes (yes, I'm a 90s kid, I still play with cassettes), which included his collection of Iron Maiden...and I couldn't remember the rest of his collection. Anyways, my whole life has been totally rocking.
If you know Jakarta, we don't get that many rockers to hold a live concert there. Apparently the number of metal and rock lovers is too little to attract the rockstars. As I moved to Brisbane, one of the most exciting thing I've always been waiting for is: Soundwave Festival. The lineup has always been amazing, and this year especially is very special because Slipknot, System of A Down, Lamb of God, Marilyn Manson, and lots others are playing. Knowing that this event would be huge, I bought the ticket in November last year! Later on, I spent a couple of days to convince my housemate, Mel, to come with me as we have almost the same taste in music. And she's a huge fan of Lamb of God. She finally bought the ticket, and helped me convince my roommate, Carol. Carol decided to buy the ticket the next day just after Mel bought the ticket. Surprise, surprise, it was sold out already. Mel was way beyond lucky and Carol was way beyond unlucky.
Three months passed since I bought the ticket, and finally, TODAY WAS THE DAY. The day Mel and I would see these awesome bands live. However, the festival itself started at around 11 am, but Mel and I decided to go there at 3 pm because that is when the bands we wanted to see started to perform. First band up, Underoath. We know them, but we're not that big of fan. We decided to check them out anyway. They were pretty late, like around 15 minutes, so they end up only singing like 3 songs, but it was fun and their stage performance was great. After that we went to the shops before going to the other stage to see Trivium.
When we were about to see Trivium, we went to the arena in front of the stage, and since we were so excited and still full of energy, we both just kept moving forward, closer to the stage, until at one point we realised that we were the only girls in that part of the arena. We just looked at each other and not long after that, when Trivium showed up, we got pushed by people from the back to form the mosh pit. We were literally thrown back and forth in between those huge Caucasian guys. We're Asians (even though Mel is half and half), we felt so petite compared to these huge guys, so we decided to go a little bit to the side to avoid the mosh pit. It turns out the mosh pit ended up just next to where we stood. This was our very first close-up mosh pit experience, so we were scared yet excited too.
I've always thought moshing is very violent and chaotic, however, after seeing the moshing in real life, it seemed...fun. It looked like a child's play for grown adults, just men pushing their bodies to other men. I still wouldn't think about joining them in the mosh pit, though. During Trivium's performance, lots of people entered and exited the arena, so when Mel and I were listening to Trivium's live performance, there were this group of three guys walking past me trying to exit the arena and one of them actually stopped, looked at me, touched my shoulder, gave me that proud look, and said, "I. Love. Your red hair." And he actually said it with periods in between his words. And he said it three times. I was very surprised I didn't know what to reply, I just gave him a smile with a slightly awkward "thank you".
Now, I still have lots of stories to tell, but I'll save it for tomorrow because it is 3 am now and I really need to sleep. Please stay tuned for the second part of the story!!!
